Many Individuals Believe There Will Be A Muslim Antichrist

By Nelda Powers

Numerous individuals who follow the Christian faith have wondered over the years whether or not we can expect a Muslim antichrist to eventually appear in the world. The consensus for many years has been that this individual will descend from a European country or from Rome. It is likely that such philosophies are based on scriptures in the book of Daniel that refer to this individual as a descendent of those who were responsible for destroying the Temple in 70 A. D. The Bible states that the latter individuals were Romans.

Eschatologists also have conflicting opinions with regard to whether or not this individual will try to claim he is a Jew or a Christian. Numerous individuals believe that John's Gospel refers to a Jewish Antichrist. Some people are of the opinion that he will have to be a Jew himself or at the very least masquerade as one in order to deceive the Jewish people and gain acceptance among this race.

Another group of individuals believe that certain Scriptures indicate the Anti-Christ will not be Jewish. For example, in Revelation, this person is depicted as a beast that comes "out of the sea." When this particular phrase is used in other sections of the Bible, it is referring to "Gentile nations."

Yet another argument is that this individual will be a Muslim. This is the current and the most popular philosophy among most Christians. It may have caught on because of the recent and obvious renewal of the Muslims' goal to conquer all the nations of the world in the name of their god Allah.

Several books have been written on this topic by those who are knowledgeable concerning eschatology. In one book, a biblical foundation is laid asserting that this individual will indeed be a Muslim. Several other books allude to this fact without actually coming out and saying that this is the case.

Due to the fact that the Bible also gives reference to a false prophet who works with the Antichrist, some individuals believe that one will be a Muslim, while the other will be Jewish. Still other people believe that both individuals will be of Roman or European descent, as mentioned above.

Conflicting opinions exist concerning the subject, which has led many Christians to conduct their own research projects. This has resulted in various theories concerning the details of this topic. However, those who embark upon such studies typically find that research projects of this kind are both rewarding and interesting.

It remains to be seen if a Muslim Antichrist will eventually enter the world. Virtually all Christians agree that we are living in the end times, even if conflicting theories arise about the aforementioned topic. Ultimately, Christians must wait and watch, and do everything possible to hear God's direction concerning who can and cannot be trusted in today's modern world. Because no person knows precisely when this dreaded individual will first appear, all Christians are wise to pray about such matters on a regular basis.
